Tomorrow is Valentines Day! For those of you who have been keeping up with our blog this month, you know that we have been using the holiday as a reason to "Share the Love" with some of our favorite retailers of Avindy jewelry by featuring them on our blog. As we have mentioned, we decided to do this because without these shops and boutiques there is no way we could have been so sucessful in the past 10 years. Thanks to the vendors that carry our jewelry, people who have read about our pieces in magazines or online have a place where they can see and touch (and, of course, buy) our delicate handmade jewelry in person. The stores we have featured not only sell Avindy, but love it and wear it—and for that we feel so very, very lucky.

Let us now introduce you to Stitch. Having just celebrated 14 years, Stitch is located in Wicker Park, a historical Chicago neighborhood northwest of The Loop. The store boasts of an eclectic mix of home decor, jewelry, handbags, and clothing for women, men, and children. They are especially known for their selection of leather bags and accessories, although they wanted to make sure that we mentioned THEY DO NOT SELL LEATHER PANTS! They said that their name and the abundance of leather items, often times, leads to some very "osbcure" phone calls! Ha ha!! Ok back on topic...
Stitch Chicago has been selling Avindy for the past 5 years. When we asked them why they love Avindy they said, "All of their pieces have a beautiful balance of vintage, whimsy and modern edge. Avindy has a unique style that stands out while remaining delicate and refined at the same time." What an amazing compliment because that statement pretty much sums up what Avindy is going for. I am not sure we could have written a better description ourselves and we very much appreciate it!

Jackie, the wonderful Stitch team member who was so kind as to respond to our interview request, states that she has some favorite pieces, including the Gold Disc with Diamonds Necklace. She goes on to say that the Avindy rings are the real show stoppers in the store—grabbing the attention of every customer that walks by them. She seems to have no problem admitting that she and her other 3 co-workers, Matthew, Carlyn, and Pamela, have all been guilty of slipping on a stack of Avindy rings for the day. One of their best sellers (the second time we have seen this mentioned in an interview BTW) is the Pave Diamond Circle Ring because it's "bright, feminine, and just the right size for everyday wear."
Thank you guys and gals so much for being Avindy ambassadors, because that's what you really are! We cherish our relationship with you and we hope to be in your stores for many years to come. Now does that sound like a greeting card or what??
On a side note, we found this really cool do-dad on Google Maps that lets you have a virtual walk around this store. Check it out here. Waaaay cooler than just a plain ole image—though nothing is cooler than taking a walk around the store in real life. So, make sure you stop by and say hello to the staff for us. Also make sure you like them on Facebook. It's the cool thing to do.

Because we are so appreciative to have had so much succss with our jewelry in the past 10 years, we have decided to dedicate the month of February to "Sharing the Love" for the retailers that have been instrumental in our journey. We honestly can't do it without them. They give us places around the world to showcase our intricate pieces of art. We are so thankful to have these store full of people who, as we have found in our interviews we did for this campaign, love our jewelry as much as we do. Keep in mind as you read this series that if you don't notice a store near you in these "Share the Love" blogs, you can always find one by using our store locator.
Now, let's get this show on the road with The Silverado Jewelry Gallery located in Saratoga Springs, New York. Having celebrated 10 years in 2011, Silverado's history is a little different than one might expect when it comes to the jewelry industry. That's because the owners of Silverado spent a combined 50 years learning and teaching Sales/Marketing and Customer service before owning a business. When they opened Silverado, they had a strong understanding that running a business is far more than just displaying pretty stuff in some nice cases. Their goal was to not only showcase and sell beautiful handcrafted jewelry, but also to establish a business for "The Customer" by sharing a lifetime of customer service knowledge with the staff. The result is a warm and friendly shopping experience, for the customer, along with a positive and educational work environment for the staff. It's a win win when you shop for jewelry here!
Not only is their customer service amazing, but their gallery is absolutely jaw dropping. The facility typically shows original works from over 50 different Artists; some are Icons in the industry, and some well kept secrets. They have a very interesting mix of artists from locations near and far, including New York, Vermont, Durango, Phoenix, San Francisco, Chicago, Paris, Hollywood, Canada, Israel, Germany and many more!

Silverado, has been selling Avindy pieces for about 2 1/2 years now. When we asked Whitney, Silverado's buyer, why they love Avindy, she told us, "The exceptional quality and diverse artistic design drew us to carry Avindy in the first place and continues to be one of the main reasons we love it so much!" Awwwww! We are totally blushing right now. When it comes to what their customers like, Silverado cites that they sell so many beautiful and unique Avindy pieces over and over again, but our "Pave Diamond" Circle of Life Ring continues to be their best seller! Whitney has heard it straight from the customers mouth that the ring's subtle beauty and the way it shows diamonds in this same subtle yet striking way is why people love it so much. Whitney also happens to have a favorite piece of her own, our diamond love letter slider bracelet, which we don't carry on our website anymore, but is similar to our diamond medallion slider bracelet found here. Seems there are perks to being a jewelry buyer. Not only do you get to spend your days searching out sparlky jewelry, you also get to be the first wear it if you want to. What a life!

We hope you enjoyed this feature! If you are in the Saratoga area of New York, make sure you stop by Silverado. There is no doubt you will be awe struck by their service, facility and selection of handmade Avindy jewelry.

Happy February and happy Friday!! In case you didn't have a chance to read our last blog post, we will tell you why we are so excited for February. We have decided to use the month for lovers as an opportunity to "Share the Love" by showcasing some of our favorite stores that carry Avindy jewelry. We decided to do this because we feel really lucky to have all of the support we do from our retailers. Without them, it would be pretty hard to share our creations. Sure, we could and do have an online store, but it is our belief that until you see our pieces in person, you can't appreciate the detail and love we put into each handmade work of art. Some of the items we make are very tiny and intricate. A web photo just doesn't do most of our jewelry any justice (even if we do say so ourselves). Anyhow, enough about us! Lets get onto the feature of the day!!
Everyone say hello to Turning Leaf! Ok, so I want to tell you that we sent out a pretty basic questionnairre to supplement what we already know about these stores/galleries. The one we received from Sherry Darling, owner of Turning Leaf, was toooooo cute!! I'm thinking that I will share some of their history then just copy and paste her interview questions straight in. I'm not sure there is anyway we can make what she wrote any better. There is actually a lot of really interesting history here, but there is so much of it, that I am going to have to pick and choose the most intriguing parts.
Sherry Darling and Gary Gardner had enjoyed living on a small yacht for several years. They cruised the islands during the spring and early summer months then returned to Florida during hurricane season and winter. Florida has some rather intensive heat and a huge population of mosquitoes so they looked for a retreat in the mountains. In 2001 they bought a lovely log home in the mountains, but were disappointed when trying to decorate their new home as almost everything they found was imported from China, Indonesia, Mexico or elsewhere.
Soon a gentleman approached them as he was planning to open a gallery in Blue Ridge and wanted to feature Gary’s Fine Turned Wood Art and Sherry’s Appalachian style baskets. When Sherry and Gary toured the facility they were both oddly affected by the idea to open a small gallery of their own and the gentleman was very supportive as he was leasing the space and hoped to create a center for the arts.

Turning Leaf Wood Art (now Turning Leaf - A Fine Art GAllery) opened in the fall of 2003 in the gorgeous little mountain town of Blue Ridge, Georgia. Blue Ridge is located approximately 100 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia and 85 miles east of Chattanooga, Tennessee. They started off with 3 artists in a small gallery before embarking on opening their much larger dream gallery located in the heart of Blue Ridge's charming downtown district. They now have the ability to host 50 artists and have transformed themselves from a wood art gallery to also include a selection of original paintings, rare and unusual pottery, several exquisite jewelry lines, beautiful fiber arts, unique baskets, awesome gourd art and so much more! They are proud to admit that they exclusively offer American made works—which is quite hard to come by now a days.
What a lovely story! Apparently the story goes along with the personality of Sherry. We know you are just going to love her responses! After reading, you will understand why her last name is Darling.
How long have you been selling Avindy products? We have been proudly offering the “Avindy” line of jewelry since early 2005. We often call the line “ahhhhhvindy” (pronounced as a quick deep breath of air as we found that the line would take a woman’s breath away). We also have what we fondly refer to as “the AAA club” which stands for “Avindy Addicts Anonymous”.
Why do you love Avindy? What’s not to love? Avindy jewelry is exquisite, unique, exciting, affordable, vintage, feminine, stunning, imaginative, essential, fresh, and created with quality materials, quality workmanship and much love!
Do you have a favorite piece that you wear yourself from Avindy? If so, explain. I have a LOT of “Avindy” but never enough! I am particularly fond of the double wrap necklaces as they are so versatile. They can be worn in many different ways in order to change the focal point and to compliment many different wardrobe styles.
See?? We told you! DARLING! Make sure you check out their website, and if you are ever in the area of Blue Ridge, Georgia make the gallery a destination. You won't be disappointed.
